Port Douglas - Daintree - Great Barrier Reef - this is as good as it gets. Port Douglas Daintree Tourism, Port Douglas, Australia
The Port Douglas Daintree Tourism Inc (PDDT) was officially established in 1989, as a result of the Australian Pilot Strike that literally crippled Tropical North Queensland Tourism. For the benefit of the tourism industry and the community at large, a co-operative and co-ordinated marketing strategy needed to implemented and the LTO (Local Tourism Organisation) was born. Today, theis run by an elected committee of voluntary members led by a Chairman and 3 full time staff.

The PDDT Mission Statement is “To be a leading partner in the marketing of economically and environmentally sustainable tourism in the Douglas Shire”.

Port Douglas Daintree Tourism is a member based organisation deriving financial support from the membership fee structure and the Area Promotion Special Charge collected by the Douglas Shire Council.
Membership support is vital to ensure that the region remains competitive with other Queensland, Australian and overseas destinations.
Membership is an investment in your own business as well as in the economic interest of the Douglas Shire area as a whole.
Tourism is the number one industry and largest single employer within the Douglas Shire.

The Association’s role as the Destination Marketing body is to work behind the scenes to promote the region and the products of it’s members. The body is an information source and this internet site has been built to broaden knowledge of the destination. As an LTO, the PDDT attends trade and consumer shows both domestically and overseas, hosts media and trade familiarisations in the region, acts as an information source via email, web and phone to service visitor queries, produces a monthly newsletter, produces and distributes promotional material and organises co-operative marketing campaigns with members.

Theworks closely with the following bodies and has a partnership agreement in place with the Douglas Shire Council and also Tourism Tropical North Queensland as the Regional Tourism Organisation.

  • Douglas Shire Council (DSC).
  • Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ)
  • Daintree Village Tourism (DVTA)
